A recently completed project in the Chancellor Park area of Chelmsford showcases KT Garden Spaces’ ability to transform outdoor areas into beautiful, functional living spaces.

When we first visited, the garden’s usable entertaining space was limited. Much of it was taken up by a tired, Japanese‑themed deck and water feature installed by previous owners. Since moving in, the current owners had already enhanced the property with a stunning vaulted side extension, complete with bi‑fold doors opening directly onto the decking and garden.

During our onsite consultation, the owners were inspired by our suggestion to re‑imagine the entire area as a practical outdoor living space. Our design aimed to create a serene floral backdrop visible from inside the home, paired with the calming sound of running water and the fragrance of star jasmine. This transformation was achieved using a concealed OASE water blade set within new raised Millboard-clad bedding areas, complemented by an Ellumiere LED lighting system that brings the garden to life after dusk.

Stepping outside, visitors are greeted by a striking combination of Millboard Golden Oak Enhanced Boards—echoing the internal oak flooring—and Globalstone Station Pearl porcelain tiles. Together, they form a perfectly enclosed dining and entertaining patio. It’s now easy to imagine enjoying breakfast in the morning sun, relaxing in partial shade on hot summer afternoons, or dining al fresco with family and friends in the evening. The space is truly versatile.

Beyond the patio, a curved porcelain stepping‑stone path bordered with smooth sandstone setts and bullnose edging leads to another Millboard deck area. Contemporary screening provides a sheltered spot ideal for lunch, soaking up the afternoon sun, or simply appreciating the beautifully manicured borders and pots that frame the garden.
